I live in Studio City and my apartment building was forced to switch from our awesome cable internet to DSL internet....I know its a terrible thing. So I got AT&T but it is crazy slow. Does anyone know of any quicker, realiable, affordable DSL service in the area. Verizon hasnt spread out to my area yet and that sucks.

Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know how to get my tivo to work with my damn directv. Its a dual tuner Tivo but now since we were forced to switch to directv I can only record 1 channel at a time PLUS I need to watch that channel. Any ideas or am I just screwed? I host a reality show podcast and really need to make sure all of the shows get recorded in a timely manner.

Any ideas on how to get this to work without having to give in an being forced into buying a directv dual tuner DVR? Seriously? can they get any MORE of my money. I hate my apartment building now...if it wasnt such a sweet pad I would be gone by now.

Let me know with any answers or if anyone is interested in getting a beer and talking reality shows/Veronica Mars with my and my boyfriend or are interested in listening to the podcast.

Thanks everyone!

Charter not available in your building? They have 10meg download which is pretty darn fast. I think AT&T maxes out at 3meg.

nope nada zilch

nah no charter. Checked into them. No charter, no verizon and with AT&T being so slow I am running out of mainstream options.

Any other thoughts?

Re: nope nada zilch

Does the cable company that services your buidling offer internet or is it only verizon and at&t. If that's the case, I have to ask what kind of nazi deal your management struck with the devil. Those are not good options only because the service is not hard wired. T1 lines are available, but I doubt you want to pay $300 a month for super fast internet. I don't know how to search out your options with you without the address of your buidling.

Re: nope nada zilch

its a nazi type deal. We cant have anything cable now. We used to have time warner which for internet was amazing. Then all of a sudden they are like "nope you need to have directv and get rid of the cable internet" and i was like "WHAT?!" seeing as how my podcast runs off of television and internet I was peeved.

This is a deal with the devil and now I am just looking for affordable options. If I could get cable internet...I would because I miss it so.

So far AT&T is my onion option as I can tell. Verizon not in the area, charter not in the area....are there any other option really? Maybe one thats not such a big name but is faster? I dont even know because I never had to deal with DSL in my entire life.

I really want to move because of this you have no idea.

You have a TiVo Series2DT I'm guessing? Sorry, that's only dual-tuner with analog cable fed into the box. It only support one external input - cable box or satellite receiver. So when used with DirecTV and no cable it is single-tuner.

(I run tivolovers and GizmoLovers.com)
